'A recent item in our local newspaper cited Bermuda's current problem with the feral poultry population. These creatures, seen scratching by our road's weeds, potholes and walls can be both social and sassy-a reflection of our own population. In spite of their movement in unison there is a definite pecking order. Colourful, fighting roosters and clucking, protective hens- all are on guard against predators or outsiders. Endearing and exasperating-they are all part of our local scene.'
