"Facing Time"
Mexican Fluorite, can be mounted variously
9 x 5 x 7 inches
"I am drawn to combining the sleek look and feel of the carved shapes in new relationships and in a variety of stones.
While I create these sculptures, I often have a story in my head as to what they represent or who they might be for. But there are times when the stone prevails and guides you to the correct ‘form’.
My hope is you will simply enjoy the shapes and textures letting your own emotions shape the tale it represents.
Mexican fluorite is an especially hard stone with numerous fracture lines throughout making it almost impossible to use an air hammer or chisels in the creation process. Instead rotary diamond blades and grinders do the rough work with the finishing done by diamond pads using power tools and old fashioned hand sanding." - Scott King
