"Fate emerged at the tideline. That place where life rose out of Mother Ocean and led us forward. Now we walk on the beach in the sunset of our existence, having followed Fate in a full circle.
I am drawn to combining the sleek look and feel of the carved shapes in new relationships and in a variety of stones.
While I create these sculptures, I often have a story in my head as to what they represent or who they might be for. But there are times when the stone prevails and guides you to the correct ‘form’.
My hope is you will simply enjoy the shapes and textures letting your own emotions shape the tale it represents.
“Fate Emerging” – was initially created at the MARBLE/marble carving symposium located in Marble, Colorado and finished in Bermuda. Located next to an old quarry that produced all the stone for the Lincoln Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington DC the quarry is still active and provides all the stone for the symposium. “Fate Emerging” was carved from a single block of Colorado Yule marble weighing close to 500lbs. The inspiration to create it in multiple pieces came from a Henry Moore work titled: Four-Piece Composition: Reclining Figure, 1934. - Scott King
