Abi Box's solo exhibition, Noise Maker, opened on February 27th, 2025, at the Marée lounge in the Loren Hotel.
Artist Statement
"The direction my work has taken in recent years is born partly out of the slapdashery that comes with having added a second child to our family. Paintings derived from fast and erratic drawings that have been thrown together in stolen moments; drawn in whatever is close to hand, Biros, pencils, markers, felt-tips, crayons. Structured with little intention, compositionally they have been worked out through trial and error. Working with masking tape and correction fluid, off-white clumsy daubs, obviously, once mistakes and tatty edges have become part of the poetry; drawing attention to the unintentional."
