"Beauty in Protection"
Chalk Pastel, includes handmade rope frame with shells
"Oyster shells serve as protection to the living creature inside whereas pearls are perceived as perfection and beauty. In my piece, the composition portrays the protective nature of the shells. The shell is opened to allow the pearl’s beauty to stand alone while it offers security below. The soft appearance of the chalk pastels compliments the symbols of beauty. The frame around the drawing is made up of rope and real limpets which have similar colours to the oyster shell. It is important to not overlook small natural objects because they are still a part of our environment."- Gabriella Botelho
