Gail Marirea: Painting With Fabric

Quilt artist Gail Marirea returns to Masterworks for her third solo exhibition in the Rick Faries Gallery, titled Painting With Fabric. The exhibition presents a selection of Gail’s one-of-a-kind quilts and showcases her signature practice of replicating paintings, photographs, and postcards entirely in fabric. The artworks recreated in Gail’s quilts include pieces by Winslow Homer and the Tucker Sisters. Working from her original patterns, Gail transforms brushstrokes into hand-sewn layers of fabric, ‘painting’ with one piece of material at a time.
